Abstract

The article suggests that social philosophy nowadays is conceptually and thematically transformed in the process of understanding the historically changing reality of society. The blurring of social contours, the feeling of falling out of history (identity loss, ecological crisis, broadening of negative ideological field, digitalization of everything, loss of independent cultural value of education and knowledge phenomenon) – all this turns us to look for new concepts in which it is possible to fix and comprehend real social changes. Modern cultural-historical epistemology moves to the focus new aspects of historicism that can help us understand what is happening. According to the task the author refers to the methodological experience of the Russian philosopher Gustav Shpet, comprehending his arguments about hermeneutics as a theory of historical cognition, i.e. actualizing the type of historism that was fixed and outlined in his work "History as a Problem of Logics", "Hermeneutics and Its Problems" and also in his handwritten heritage. The thinker’s appeal to see the modern reality as the past, i.e. to move back in history, requires from us an intellectual effort, reflection on ourselves, makes us to reflect on our behavior and what is happening around so as to see the future as the present. A reflexive moment of self-reflection is associated with a new understanding of historism.
